Songs Mr.Flower Can’t Live Without – October 2010

It has been a while since our last post. We took a long summer break and then we had to get used to our new schools and apprenticeships so there was no place in our heads for this blog. We are really sorry and we will try to write more often from now. There are a few themes from the last months that we would love to tell you about…

And Now I start a new little category: “Songs We Can’t Live Without” ( I saw a list like this on a nother blog and liked the idea…unfortunately I can’t remember which Blog it was)

I love music. I think I love music as much as I love fashion…and I really love fashion. Sometimes there are songs that I can’t get off my head, songs that I just can’t stop listening to, songs I cannot live without.

They change after a while. Not regularly but from time to time. After listening to a special kind of music for some time I often need something completely different and new.

Here is my current list of songs I can’t live without:

  1. Scissor Sisters – Fire With Fire
  2. Scissor Sisters – Skin Tight
  3. Tanner Cohan in the film “Were the World Mine” – We Fairies
  4. Tanner Cohan in the film “Were the World Mine” – Were the World Mine
  5. Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP – We No Speak Americano
  6. Paul Kalkbrenner – Sky and Sand
  7. Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina – Stereo Love
  8. Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina – This Is My Life
  9. Dred – Változnak az idök
  10. Dred – Bolond sívem

As you can see I listen to a lot of electronic music at the moment…

Tina

After walking along the Zeil, going into several shops, visiting the Zeil Galerie shopping centre and enjoying the great architecture there for a while, we went to Goethestraße where all the designer boutiques are to see the Paris-Shanghai collection in the windows of the Chanel boutique. I still don’t dare going in there although I’d love to see more of this wonderful collection in “real life”. Just as we wanted to go back to the station to catch our trains we saw this lady in a very nice outfit. We have never before asked someone who we do not know at all for a photo but we worked up the courage to ask her. So we can now present you Tina:

It was her blue Zara dress with the very cute cat-print in combination with the red shoes that caught our eyes but now on the photo I see the white watch matching the dress. together with the brown Louis Vuitton bag and the cap it looks just great. It is a playful but not shrill, casual but still very stylish summer outfit.

Breakfast at Frankfurt IV – Escatira

After our very delicious breakfast at Cafe Crumble, we took a few stops more with the subway to Escatira (Berger Str. 74 ;60316 Frankfurt). Escatira is a Second-Hand Shop for women clothing and calls itselfs ‘First class an second-hand’. I think that fits perfect! Escatira sells near designer- clothing, shoes, accessoires like bags and belts. Actually you find some pieces from H&M or ZARA but it’s always trend and in a good condition.I know the shop from a teacher of mine and bought there some really nice items in the last year.

On that day, we went in just to look arround. I tried something on but it was nothing spectacular. In the end, I tried just for fun – shoes. After a few pairs, Mr. flower gave me those lovely red shoes from CAMPER. At first I was a bit doubtful instead of the colour, but their were perfect, and so comfortable! So I took them for 39€! Normally, I don’t like second-hand-shoes but I think their weren’t worn before.

And here worn and photographed with my union-jack-clutch!

After my shopping-succes, Mr. Flower and I went to the Zeil just for watching and talking. What we found and whats interesting to see will be posted in the next post by Mr. Flower!

Breakfast at Frankfurt III – Cafe Crumble

Back to our day in Frankfurt:

After taking the outfit photos at Bockenheimer Warte we went to Cafe Crumble for breakfast. We went there with our class last year and liked it so much that  we had to come back.

It is very close to the tram station “Bockenheimer Warte” in Kiessstr. 41. It looks quite unspectacular from the outside but it is really nice in there. They also have a wonderful backyard where you can sit in the summer. And the breakfast is really good. here is their website

I had the “Big Breakfast” while Ms. Bow had the “Coast Breakfast”

After enjoying our wonderful breakfast we had a freshly pressed orange juice while discussing the latest issue of Elle magazine before we left to got to Escatira. Ms. Bow will tell you what she bought in this wonderful second-hand-designer-store in her next post.

Muse – The Resistance

friends of mine who are extreme Muse fans showed me a few songs from their actual album. I loved them and listened to them on youtube from time to time. two weeks ago I was listening to “undisclosed desires” all day long…I just couldn’t stop and I didn’t want to hear any other song. I couldn’t go on watching it on youtube for ever…and I wanted more of that wonderful music…so I went to the city to buy the album. I had seen it on Amazon before and it costed around 8 € but I wasn’t patient enough to wait for a package to arrive. I wanted to have the CD on that day. After a little search through the CD-shop at the local mall I found it and it costed 19,99€. I was not happy about it but as I said before I needed to have that CD on that day. I couldn’t wait it was impossible…so I bought it. When I came home and opened it I realized I had bought the special edition with the making of the album DVD…So in the end the price wasn’t too high for what I got :)

I totally love the wonderful music. It has a sad, melancholic but very clear mood. It sounds dark but beautiful. There are electronic influences (for example in “undisclosed desires”) and great orchestral arrangements in the song “United States of Eurasia” and in the last three songs. A series called “Exogenesis: Symphony Part 1, 2 and 3″. The whole Album sounds really big and bombastic. It is like a melancholic modern opera.

The Artwork on the album is just as great as the music

The first impression is a cover with beautiful bright colours but if you look closer it is not at all nice and bright but quite disturbing. There is one single person standing in an abstract room facing the planet earth and thanks to perspective all the lines and all the dynamic in this picture is running  to the earth in the centre of the cover.

If you open the CD there is nothing left of the bright colours. Only disturbing black and white photos.

and here the back of the CD

I am not sure if Ms. Bow likes the music of Muse – I think she doesn’t but I haven’t asked her yet – but I truly love it.

Ms. Bow spent the last week in Berlin. She arrived back home today and will tell you about her trip to the capital of Germany in the next days. Here is the wonderful card she sent me while she was there.

Breakfast at Frankfurt I – Mr. Flowers Outfit

Since a few weeks school is over and last week we had our graduation ceremony. We decided that we were going to meet at Frankfurt once more before Ms. Bow starts her apprenticeship in Gießen and won’t be able to come to Frankfurt that often anymore.

So last Monday we met at the main station and from there we went to “Café Crumble” for breakfast. It is a wonderful Café/Bistro near our (former) school but more about it later. Here is the Outfit I wore on that day:

Mexx shirt, Givenchy trousers, Deichmann shoes, H&M sunglasses, and the bag of an old russian gas mask

Photos were taken by Ms. Bow near the tram-station “Bockenheimer Warte” at Frankfurt.

More about our day at Frankfurt will follow in the next posts…
